IMPALA, collective for Independent labels across Europe
First things first, who is IMPALA? Based in the UK, IMPALA is a non-profit making pan-European organization founded by some of the main independent music companies. Focusing on record labels, music companies and self-releasing artists, the association now gathers approximately 6 000 members across Europe.
IMPALA takes on a multifaceted role in the music industry. Their mission at its core is to promote reliable and safe growth for the independent music field by working on artist development, keeping an eye on diversity and enforcing entrepreneurship. A strong political engagement for positive evolution of the music industry (including financial support for the field) is also part of IMPALA’s activities.
They actively support independent music by advocating for fair copyright management, working on streaming regulation and ensuring access to several media platforms. IMPALA's dedication extends to a global network of associations and collaborative efforts, which of course makes the organization all the more necessary.
IMPALA emphasizes the importance of structures like labels in the music sector, recognizing their role in risk-taking, stability, scale, investment, brand, experience, and fostering a sense of "belonging" for artists. And if you’ve been following us for a while, you know that’s part of Reprtoir’s DNA to support exactly this kind of companies in their daily work.
