ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) is a professional organization of 800,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers, owned and run by its members, and the world leader in performance royalties, advocacy and service for music creators.
ASCAP is a non-profit performance rights organization monitoring broadcast or live public performances of its members to protect and compensate its members’ musical copyrights. Ascap collects licensing fees and distributes them as royalties, in 2019, Ascap collected over US$1.274 billion and distributed over US$1.184 billion to their members. Ascap is the only performance rights organization in the United States owned and run by songwriters, composers and music publishers to ensure that Ascap makes decisions in the interest of all its members.
